Engagement Session at the fabulous Mission Inn, Riverside

A while back, my clients and I visited one of my favorite venue to shoot their engagement session. Which venue was it, you ask?

It’s the Mission Inn Hotel & Spa, located at about 60 miles from downtown Los Angeles, in the heart of downtown Riverside. This is a truly special place in Southern California, because former US President Nixon had his wedding held at this very same hotel; President Reagan had his honeymoon here; and eight other former presidents were stopped by this place,  Benjamin Harrison, William McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft,Herbert Hoover, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Gerald Ford, and George W. Bush.

Having a wedding or taking engagement photos there at the Mission Inn is like having a journey in time. The Mission Inn was built all the way back in 1902, and constructed in a wide variety of architectural styles. Mainly influenced by the Spanish Colonial and Renaissance styles.

Therefore, when you are looking to take engagement photo or pre wedding photo, or even having your wedding there at the Mission Inn Hotel. You may want to prepare your wardrobe more tailored to vintage style, or very modern. As booth style dresses would make it look timeless  in this venue.

Without further ado, here are the pictures taken in an engagement session from Mission Inn.

In mid-October, Southern California is still getting scorching heat from the Sun, especially in the San Gabriel Valley area in Los Angeles County.

Despite a sunny 90-degree Saturday in October, Andrea and Jonathan exchanged their vows in front of their friends and family at CocoPalm Restaurant, located on the hillside of Pomona, CA.

They chose to have a gorgeous outdoor wedding with, this couple chose a sunset-orange as their main color with closely matched bouquet and bridesmaids’ dresses. It brings a nice vibe to this late summer/early fall season.

With too much to say, let’s take a look at some of the highlights of their wedding.

San Gabriel Traditional Chinese Wedding

Fusion Traditional Chinese wedding is not something uncommon in Southern California, or in California at all.

Brides usually wear their bright-red Chinese Wedding Dress (called ” Kwa” ) with lots of symbolic embroidery, which are usually hand-stitched by skillful artists. And when the new-weds finished the traditional tea ceremony (depends on the part of Asia or China they’re from, the customs for tea ceremony may vary), they will usually change to the westernized wedding gown for other activities during the day. Who doesn’t like a pure white wedding gown on their wedding day, right?

A note worthy to this wedding was, the wedding parties were exceptionally fun, they don’t hold back at all!

Check out the pictures guys.

University of La Verne Pre-Wedding Photography

It’s early June here in Southern California, it’s yet another year’s graduate season. Every year around this time, a very photogenic tree call the Blue Jacaranda, or the fern tree, is in its full blossom; painting the campuses and neighborhoods with a vibrant purple high up in the sky. This year, it’s for sure a special for our bride, she graduated with a MBA degree from University of La Verne the day before her wedding. Thus she and her then fiance decided to go back to the university in her wedding dress and his tux, to shoot a Pre-Wedding session before their reception.

Wedding Photography is all about the joy and love that we photographers that will save for our clients, our friends for eternity. And during this pre-wedding session, the bride’s parents flown all the way from China, seeing their daughter dressed in this beautiful wedding dress. After 30 plus years of marriage, the parents sure do have some good example set for the new-weds; While I was posing the parents for a few picture while the bride is changing her gown, their love is subtle, but I can feel that has never faded away after these many years of marriage.

Words aside, here comes the pictures

Wedding Photography- Calvary Chapel Golden Springs Chino Hills

In mid-May this year, it was unusually hot in Southern California. But it did not sweat away any joy, romance, nor love from this new family – Mr. and Mrs. Galicia, who chose to have their wedding ceremony at the Calvary Chapel Golden Springs, located in Chino Hills, to exchange their vow of love.

They held a nice and warm dinner reception at their back yard, featuring a nice pool with waterfall, table set with candles. And certainly, there are tears of joy involved. When the new-weds dance with their parents, they cannot hold their tear any more. What a romantic scene.
