Engagement Session – Winter Love at Big Bear Mountain
This winter was feeling a little bit “abnormal” in Southern California. As everyone is expecting lots or rain coming to the south land, temperature dropped quite abit back in December. Especially in the mountains, snow fell earlier than it had been for the last few years.
So I brought my clients to the Big Bear Mountains, to have their engagement session shot there.
It was a nice day with warm Sun in the sky, fall foliage filled the winding road up the mountain, and snow covered parts of the hill sides. Unfortunately tho, the Big Bear Lake was low on water because of the drought… But it gave us another opportunity to shoot at the lake bed long the walk-way.
Wedding Day – Colorful Indian / South Asian Wedding
In contrast to mainstream weddings, Asian weddings love to use bold and vibrant colors to make the day as joyful as possible.
This is especially true to Indian Weddings and South Asian Weddings. It’s deep in their culture to use bright colors like Red, Purple, Sky Blue, Shining Gold to detail their outfits, their wedding furniture, and almost everything else in the wedding.
And this wedding was a 3-day event. (yes, a wedding that last 3 days..) Each day, consist of doing different ceremonies. Different cultural customs. If you counting on having the hands and legs draw with Henna Mehndi, it will take even longer.
But at the end, this shows how important this day is to their culture, after all, it’s once a life time, why not?
Engagement Photo Session – San Juan Capistrano Mission
San Juan Capistrano Mission, one of the oldest mission in California; and it is the OLDEST building still in use in California.
But it also is one of the beloved places for this young couple.
With its rich history and beautiful architecture, it is a prime location to get your engagement session shot here in the south land.

Engagement Photo Session – Venice Beach, Venice Canal Walkway
What’s the most favorite thing to do when you go on a date with your bae in LA?
Having fun at the beaches should be one on top of the list here in So. Cal! Especially when the inland and the valleys were having some 100+ degree days in the summer.
Venice Beach is one of the most activity packed beach in LA; it has a skate park, a lot of workout equipment, and also a shopping street lined the walls with street arts!
to add to that, the nearby Venice Canal Walkway is a quiet community that can’t really be found else where in California, which makes it a unique area for engagement photos.
Wedding Day – Hotel Maya and the Queen Mary
The US of America, many people said it is a cultural melting pot; in a sizzling hot day in August, we’ve come to cover a multi-cultural wedding.
While the Groom and Bride were from two distinctively different ethnicity, but love kept them the same.
As to all weddings, this wedding is also very vibrant, fun, and sweet. Their venue of choice is the Hotel Maya in Long Beach, CA. With a broad open view of the entrance to the Pacific Ocean and Downtown Long Beach, it brings a sense of relax to a busy and action packed wedding day.
Queen Mary is also just right by the hotel, where the couples can take advantage of taking photos with the legendary vessel.
Wedding Day – Malibu Beach Wedding
It was a hot summer day as usual in Southern California. With the 840 miles of coast line, the golden state is lined with beautiful and famous beaches.
And that’s why you should be looking for some awesome beach wedding ideas!
This couple were actually some avid travelers, they’ve been to 27 countries together in the past 5 years. They even meet each other while they were abroad travelling!
So that their wedding were full of memories of their travels, and tying the knot only means they are having a new page in their journey.
Run away with me.
DTLA + Malibu Canyon Park Engagement Session
A very unique engagement session taken with this lovely couple. The bride-to-be is actually a makeup artist friend of mine, she especially chose this black dress to create a dark and Gothic feel to her engagement session.
It was a long day that we first went to the Malibu Canyon Park to shoot the wild-west, and we ended the night in LACMA’s Urban Street Lights display.
Rancho Palos Verdes Wayfarers Chapel Summer Wedding
Back in Mid-June, I finally landed my foot on one of the most beautiful chapels in Los Angeles, or even in Southern California.
The Wayfarers Chapel, located right at the hills of Rancho Palos Verdes, with its unique glass structure, and tall pine trees around it to create a forest like atmosphere, it is one of the prime locations for brides to have a fairy like wedding.
Great locations comes with great challenges, at this chapel, because there will be direct sunlight from above, and heavy shadow cast from the trees around it. The high contrast environment is anything but ideal from the photography stand point. However, an experienced photographer should be able to over come this issue with today’s camera technology.
So if you’re planning your wedding to have a small and forest like feeling? The Wayfarers Chapel is your top choice!
El Dorado Regional Park Wedding Long Beach
This wedding, the bride and groom had waited it for a very long time. Due to some conditions they had gone through, love was attested, and more confirmed between this lovely couple and their families are held even tighter.
Oh, disclaimer, NO T-REX nor Groomsmen were harmed, not even the Groom…they just took that raptile for a walk in the park.
